Throw Away Cake Container to Planter

Don't throw away that cake container that came with the cake you bought from the store. Keep it and turn it into a planter for the flowers on your front porch! Cheap, easy, "green" and cute. That's what Choose To Thrive does!

Reusuable Lunch Bag

With it being Earth Week, I've been thinking a lot lately about how much garbage we throw out. Where I work, most of the people are very earth conscious and reduce and reuse and recycle. Their shopping bags, wrapping paper, lunch sacks and more are reusuable.

I like this idea from Krafting With K for a reusable lunch bag. It can be used over and over again without waste. A great project to make for Earth Day.

Plantable Valentines!

This is another great idea from last week's So You Think You Are Crafty competition! Positively Spendid came up with this plantable valentine idea for her kids' friends! That's right! They made thier own recycled paper and added some spring flower seeds to the mix. In the spring when the hearts are planted and watered, flowers will pop up! I wish I could think of crazy awesome ideas like this!

Old school baby tricks and comfortable baby sling

How to carry your baby African style - More DIY How To Projects

I am currently working on making some baby slings and I saw this on instructables and thought it was great. I was also watching a movie series the other day called Into the West.. I'm not a huge western fan but really enjoyed it. One of the Indian women was carrying her baby in a basket type thing on her back, similar to an odd version of a backpack.
It looked super comfortable so I am going to try to figure out how to make one. We'll see, I might bring back really old school, eco-friendly baby backpacks!!

Another old indian trick- swaddling! Here is a good tutorial of how to use a simple baby blanket. I am also going to be coming out with easy velcro swaddling blankets soon!!
